Southern Cheese Straws

If you’re in need of an easy hostess/housewarming gift, tailgating or party snack, these delicious cheese straws are the answer. Growing up I can remember my brother and I sharing cheese-its with my dad while watching football. These however, are so much better. Each bite tastes so fresh and cheesy!

Southern Cheese Straws
via hodgepodge

ingredients:
2 sticks of butter, softened
16 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 tsp salt
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. (or more, depending on taste) of cayenne pepper

directions:
Cream butter and cheese. Add the dry ingredients and form into small balls. Flatten with the bottom of a glass or with the palm of your hand. Press with a fork and place each one on a sprayed pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes, depending on how crisp you like them.

Paired with a bottle of red wine or a collection of seasonal brews and you have a perfect anytime gift!

xx

These are always to DIE for. I found a recipe that’s now my go-to that adds in Rice Krispy cereal for a great texture + crushed red pepper flakes for the heat.
