Bridal Couture

Saturday marked the six month countdown to B and I’s big day! It’s hard to believe how quickly time is flying by. I lucked out working with a fabulous wedding planner whose style is so similar to mine that it makes designing everything so simple. We toured venues a few days after getting engaged so that B could be able to see them before heading back to St. Louis. If there was ever a picture perfect wedding town, Charleston would be it.

We have pretty much all of the big vendors booked, so now we’re just working on all the little pieces of the puzzle. Some of the vendor’s we’ve booked and my favorites…

+ Once Like A Spark Photography: This company might just be the best kept secret. It was started by two girls that were a few years older in my sorority at Georgia. They have tons of photographers that work for them, and they let you choose who you like best by their portfolio. They’re incredibly easy to work with and so nice. We loved working with them for engagement shots and can’t wait for April! (Note: this is not a southeastern company. They’re all over the US and I can’t recommend them enough!)

+ Siegel Films: Having a videographer cover the day was really important to us. Everyone stresses to me how quickly the day goes by and I love the idea of being able to re-live it, catching details we missed that night and seeing all of our closest friends and family again. Plus, I love watching any and all wedding videos. Who doesn’t?

+ On a totally unexpected day of shopping, my mom and I found my dream dress! We decided to pop into a bridal boutique that was around the corner from my old apartment in Charleston and see their collection of dresses. The fourth one I tried on was it. I left without the dress, convinced that I needed to try on more since this was my first stop. The next morning I was still thinking about it, went back to try it on and that sealed the deal!

+  Cake tasting was one part I wish I could re-do over and over again. The baker we decided on came highly recommended by our wedding planner and is the best cake I’ve ever tried. We’ve decided on an almond cake and simply put, it’s amazing.

+ Save The Dates have been sent out and we went with a postcard style since for 95% of our guests, it’s a destination wedding. We used Minted and were really happy with the quality and construction.

Save The Date

The registry is a constant work in progress.
I’d love to know what your favorite registry items were, or any favorite items that y’all have and love!

Charleston weddings are definitely so dreamy. I can’t wait to see the venue you picked! We registered for a variety of random items. Our favorites have been our Shark vacuum and a red wine aerator with stand. People gave us gifts not on our registry that we really loved because of the personal meanings.

While I haven’t thought much about actually getting married, I’m a tad bit in love with the “having a wedding” part, and you made it sound so lovely. Your save the date is truly beautiful! Great choice.

It sounds like everything is coming along for you – I bet your wedding will be absolutely beautiful. A must-have item on my registry was a KitchenAid stand mixer – I literally cannot live without it now, and it is even more special because my mom was the one to buy it for me for my bridal shower.

Picking a good wedding weekend! My birthday is 4/14 🙂 I have quite a few friends that have been married on or around that date. It’s definitely a popular month in Charleston! I am so glad you found your dream dress and look forward to seeing it in 6 months when you post about your wedding!

I love our everyday wear, and registered for everyday wear more expensive than our fine china, haha. However, you use it “everyday” and I use it in our formal dining room all the time. So pick what you really want for everyday! If you need any help or have any questions, please let me know(since I am in Charleston and got married here just a few months ago). It’s such a process and a pain at times so feel free to reach out!

I’ve never heard of a photography business doing something like that, and I was a wedding planner for 6 years! And your save the dates are adorable! I love Minted, they’re seriously the best.

I am so behind on blog reading but just popped over to your blog to see what was new with you and I’m so glad I did! Please keep the wedding updates coming, I love reading them! So glad you are loving Cory! 🙂 Some of my favorite things we registered for were the Shark blender, stainless steel Calphalon serving utensils, and decorative items for the house!
