I’ve always been a big fan of Jessica Alba. Her effortless style and clean and healthy approach to life are ones that I really respect. Her new book The Honest Life was such an easy and enjoyable read. Reading about the harmful ingredients in so many consumer products made me want to immediately purge mostly everything from my kitchen cleaning products to shampoo and body wash. Natural and organic skincare have made such a difference in my skin- why would I not worry about the rest of my household products?
The pages are filled with recipes, diy beauty masks, homemade cleaning recipes and tips on eating organic.
Some of my favorite tidbits from the book:
+ If you’re trying to lose weight or need a detox juice, try this green juice recipe:
1 whole cucumber, peeled & chopped
2 handfuls chopped kale
2 celery sticks, chopped
2 lemons, juiced
2 apple, cored and seeded
1 tsp. fresh ginger, finely diced
frozen watermelon or a dash of stevia for sweetness
(Blend well, refrigerate the leftovers)
+ the average personal care product contains around 126 ingredients. The government doesn’t require pre-market safety testing on any of them.
+ tea tree oil and purified water will help heel minor cuts because it’s a natural antiseptic
+ chemical fabric softener is mostly fragrance and other toxic ingredients. As an alternative, put 1/2 to 3/4 c. baking soda in the wash and clothes will come out soft and fresh.
Visit the Honest website to see all the natural, eco-friendly products that they offer from baby diapers to chapstick. I want to try this as an alternative to petroleum products, sunscreen for the beach and a 2 in 1 shower product sure to leave you refreshed.

I can’t wait to read this book; I adore the baby products we’ve tried so far from honest co. If you liked this book, you may also want to check out Gorgeously Green. It has some great tips too!

I’ve been wondering about this book — it looks really interesting, and I definitely want to try the sunscreen. I know how important it is but the regular stuff totally freaks me out.

Sound really interesting..I was never really aware of how many chemicals are things until I met my boyfriend who is allergic to many ingredients. The list of things in shampoo is miles long! It’s crazy!
