Face Oil

Today’s hot topic: face oils

As someone who has combination skin that errs on the oily side, I couldn’t for the life of me understand why someone would want to add more oil to their skin unless it was already very dry. To me it meant break outs and greasy t-zones. A big no thanks to both of those.

Face oils are supposed to help with anti-aging (never to early to start!) and hydration without leaving you oily. Adding oil to your skincare routine also protects against harsh weather, traveling and over cleansing.

A month ago Lucky Magazine was running one of their daily deals for Tarte’s Pure Maracuja Oil. Being one of my favorite brands, I decided to give this one a shot solely based on the rave reviews that it was getting. Even people with oily skin were singing the praises of this beauty product!

After using Tarte’s oil for a few weeks I finally understand what all the hype is about. As a result my skin is glowing and hydrated and actually not even as oily as before. I typically use 1-2 drops at night before bed and have found that to be the the perfect amount for skin type. Some people use 3-4 drops, it all depends on your skin and what it needs. You can also mix the drops into the moisturizer that you already use.

Have any of y’all tried face oil or have a favorite you swear by?

I was feeling exactly the same towards face oils, having also a combination/sometimes oily skin. Then I started using a sample of the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and I noticed my skin got a bit plumper, smoother and… less oily! I couldn’t understand it, but now I love it and I always look forward to adding it to my evening skincare routine – the smell of lavender is really soothing, I high recommend it!

I used to be so scarred of face oils–as a sort of oily-skinned person, I just thought they’d make my problem worse, but it was actually the exact opposite! I can vouch for both the Jose Maran and the Boscia oils…I have both, and they’re amazing!

i’ve never tried a face oil so it was so great to hear your review! i have very sensitive skin and if i stray from my current products i can get cystic pimples (ew/ow) so i am absolutely terrified to try a face oil. but i do love all of josie maran’s products so if i were to try one, i’d use hers!

I’m like you and have not wanted anything to do with face oils, although, now I might give them a try. This may be a silly question but do you use them in place of your night cream or do you put it on with your night cream?

I’ve never tried one, but it sounds like you and I have pretty similar skin, so maybe it’s worth a shot for me?

I have the same kind of skin as you – oily/trouble skin ever since middle school and am constantly dealing with issues! About a month ago, I decided to start using coconut oil (only at night) as am moisturizer and my skin has improved LEAPS and bounds. Incredibly! I get mine at Trader Joe’s, it’s organic and only costs 5.99 – SO worth it and so much cheaper than so many other skin lines that don’t work in the long haul. Coconut oil is so beneficial for our bodies + skin, it has endless benefits! I’m doing a post on it soon/stay tuned.

    Happy Weekend! xo

I use Tarte products, and I may give this a try. I was at the spa the other day, and they tried to sell me some oil, but it was $189 dollars. I can’t afford that.

I am addicted to that Boscia oil! I sing it’s praises every chance I get because it’s been literally skin changing for me! I’ve heard the Tarte oil is great as well from many people – I just wasn’t the biggest fan of the scent – but if it works for you thats all that matters, right?! Hope you had a great weekend!

I’ve never tried any type of face oil before, but maybe I should!

Hmm interesting, I’ve never heard of face oil! Maybe I’ll have to check it out. I’m a big fan of Philosophy so I would probably look into their product.

Found you through Megan at Fried Green Pickles and am a new follower! 🙂

Interesting! I have very oily skin (and hair) as well and it was like pulling teeth to get me to stop washing my hair everyday. But, after finally breaking the daily hair wash habit my hair is sooo much healthier. I just may have to give these oil drops a try on my face.
