I never get tired of looking at pictures of Nantucket. It reminded me so much of Charleston in that around every corner is a cute storefront/house/beach/etc. We went with my parents and brother and it was one of my favorite trips we’ve taken. We rented a three bedroom home right past The White Elephant Hotel and it was the perfect location! So many of y’all reached out about taking the same trip soon, or wanting to plan one with a baby, so I’m breaking down everything we did and what we found helpful. If there’s anything that I didn’t cover please feel free to email me or comment below with any questions!
TRANSPORTATION: We flew JetBlue from Atlanta to Boston and spent half a day and night in Boston. That afternoon we took the Boston Duck Tour and it was such a great way to see parts of the city with limited time. We used United Private Car service to pick us up the following morning and drive us down to Hyannis. It was so worth it not having to worry about a rental car, paying to park it at the port for a week and then not use it again until the return trip to the airport. Uber is also on Nantucket. We took the high speed ferry into Nantucket and it was an easy hour ride.
For Olivia we purchased her own seat on the plane and brought her car seat on board with us (I definitely think it helped her sleep some on the plane to have it with us). We left the car seat base at home and just strapped it in with the seatbelt feature during our drive to and from Hyannis. Once on Nantucket we never used it and instead biked or walked almost everywhere. For our stroller we packed the Inglesina Zippy Light and it’s incredibly light and opens/closes in seconds (saved on my ‘baby’ instagram highlight)– a dream to travel with! Our favorite travel crib also came with us, although they do have rental companies on the island that can provide cribs and other baby needs.
TO DO: We found the best way to get around was by bike and rented a little pull-behind cart for Olivia. It took her a day to get used to (read: the first time we used it she was not a fan and I ended up carrying her while walking my bike), but after that it was a blast biking to the restaurants, shops and to look at all the beautiful homes.
To checkout Sconset we took an Uber over to the opposite side of the island for lunch. Right past Claudette’s Sandwich Shop (great spot to grab lunch!) and by the beach is the entrance to ‘Bluff Walk. Grab a cup of coffee, find the path and it takes you through the most beautiful backyards on a public walking trail.
If you’re a beer lover you have to spend an afternoon at Cisco Brewery! There’s a free shuttle that leaves downtown outside of the visitor’s center and runs trips there and back every 15 minutes. They have food trucks, live music and even wine and spirits for any non-beer drinkers in the group. We got the lobster rolls from the Millie’s stand and it was delicious!
One evening we booked a harbor boat tour that left at 4 pm and was 1.5 hours. It was such a beautiful way to see the island and you’re able to bring beverages on board making it a perfect happy hour location!
TO EAT: where to even begin?! I wish we’d had more time there to try all the different spots!
Galley Beach: we booked a time around sunset and were able to catch the prettiest view! The restaurant is right on the beach and has great firepits and seating that you can move to after dinner.
Black-eyed Susan’s: Great, casual brunch spot that gets packed, but they turned the tables quickly. There’s a cool church thrift shop across the street that’s fun to pop in and checkout if you’re waiting on a table!
Sayle’s Seafood: we ended up getting dinner from here two nights and we loved them both. Since sometimes it’s just easier to order carryout with a baby, this spot was a gem. One night we ordered a mix of everything – mussels, lobster bisque, shrimp, crab cakes and another night we ordered the lobster dinner. It was so nice to order dinner from here, open some bottles of wine and just have a low-key dinner at home. We’d 100% do dinners from here again.
Something Natural: the ideal lunch spot. Lots of picnic tables outside in the grassy field and if you have kids it’s a great spot for them to run around. The sandwiches are massive, so I recommend splitting one, or get the salad, and the chocolate chip cookie it a must! I loved their matt fee tea that they’re known for.
The Juice Bar: it goes without saying that an ice-cream in their homemade waffle cones are a must here!
Petticoat Row Bakery: we’d bike here and grab morning buns or blueberry muffins
If you’ve been to Nantucket I’d love to know your favorite spots and things to do!
xx
What an idyllic place! We’ve never been but it’s on my list, for sure. Did you guys do the beach much? If so, how were they? We are total beach people but don’t like the crowds of traditional beachy areas.
This trip is absolutely dreamy! I love following along on social media. I will definitely be bookmarking this post for future reference.

Nantucket seems so dreamy – so glad you guys had a wonderful trip!
Absolutely perfect trip! I’m sad we weren’t able to meet up while you were here for the short time, but next time you’ll have to stay longer in Boston!
Nantucket is one of my favorite places ever, especially Cisco. I love it so much! Next trip you have to go to Cru, it’s the best seafood! So glad you all had a great trip!
