It’s been a minute since I’ve shared my everyday skincare routine. I’ve switched up some of my products and found new ones that I absolutely love and have been using the past 4-5 months+. Skincare is so incredibly important to me and something I take extra time to go through both morning and night. In college I considered skincare washing my face and maybe using a moisturizer. I definitely wasn’t using eye cream, toners, oils, etc. How times have changed!
This is a really detailed routine, but since I get questions on it I tried to be really thorough! 🙂
AM Routine:
Step 1: I always wash my face both morning and night. I know some people only wash at night, but the morning helps me jumpstart my day and my skin to “wake up”. A gentle cleanser is key for this step. Purity is my go-to and a great option for pretty much all skin types.
Step 2: for day eye cream I’ve been using C-Tango by one of my favorite skincare brands. Another favorite I’ll alternately buy is GinZing. Both blend perfectly under makeup and are lightweight.
Step 3: I have combination skin and the Protini moisturizer has worked wonders. It quickly absorbs into the skin and focuses on the areas that need it most. A little goes a long way! I love the online description for it: “it’s like adding a shot of protein to your smoothie. Abundant with proteins and nutrients, and formulated at a pH level of four, it replenishes and gives your skin a strong, healthy appearance”
Step 4: a daily sunscreen is a must for me and I’ve been using Elta MD for 4+ years. It’s lightweight and has never left my face greasy or shiny.
PM Routine:
Step 1: double cleansing is key! Using oil, or an oil based cleanser, will gently remove your makeup and any oil, while leaving the good, naturally hydrating oils behind. You don’t need anything fancy for this step. I’ve been using grapeseed oil for the past year and am hooked. Squeeze a little into your hands, gently rub on your (dry) face and wipe with a washcloth or warm water.
Step 2: I use either the Purity cleanser again (it’s great at removing eye makeup) or Clearing Skin Wash if I have any minor breakouts. These muslin cloths are a game changer for this step and are all I use! They’re incredibly gentle and at this price I don’t mind getting them dirty with mascara instead of ruining a white wash cloth. Colleen Rothschild’s cleaning balm (it’s amazing) came with a muslin cloth and completely converted me.
Step 3: If I wore minimal makeup that day I’ll skip this step. For a full face makeup day, I then wipe my entire face and neck with a cotton pad and micellar water. Bioderma is my favorite, but Garnier’s is a great easy to find option too!
Step 4: Toska spa in Charleston introduced me to Biologique Recherche and totally changed my skincare regime. I started using this in February and it has transformed my skin. There are lots of different types of the Lotion p50, so if you’re local I highly recommend booking a facial, or if you’re not local, calling and they can recommend which one would be best for your skin! My skin can be on the sensitive side, so I use the Lotion P50W. **This is the only option that is safe while pregnant or breastfeeding because it doesn’t include phenol**
Step 5: eye cream! I’ve been using CosMedix’s Opti Crystal the past few months and really like it. It helps to target any dark circles, fine lines, crows feet and is anti-aging.
Step 6: a high quality facial oil with real ingredients will make such a difference. I’ve re-purchased this Marula Oil a few times and can’t recommend it enough. This oil is completely un-altered and is bottled in its purest form. I gently press 3 drops into my face and neck.
weekly treatments:
2 times a week I use this gentle Daily Microfoliant after double cleansing my face. So many popular exfoliants are abrasive and harsh on your skin. This one is a powder blend that you mix into wet hands and rub in circular, upward motions over your face.
2 times a week I use a mask treatment. Usually one that’s detoxing and one that I switch out based on what I feel my skin currently needs. I’m working on a post of all my favorite masks, because there’s a handful that I reach for!

These are some definite tried and true favorites! High recommend! 🙂
Thanks for sharing this, Ashley! Your skin always looks so good in pictures, and now I know why! I’ve been wanting to introduce a micellar water into my routine – for those heavy makeup days – so I’ll definitely be looking into the ones you mentioned.

You’re so sweet, thank you Karly! Micellar water is so amazing at making sure your face is totally clean and gets off any stubborn makeup. Plus the Garnier price can’t be beat!
