October is here and that means the holiday season is right around the corner! I’ve loved looking back at all the family traditions that my family and I did year after year and how I can create the same fun experiences for our girls. Baking has always been something I’ve loved doing, but I especially loved making holiday cookies each season with my mom and grandmother. It’s a fun activity that you can get your kids involved with now, especially when we’re spending so much more time at home!
In the spirit of making things a little easier this year, I used my Walmart+ membership to have all the baking supplies delivered right to our door. Free unlimited delivery is once you hit the $35 minimum (restrictions apply) and items can be delivered as soon as that day! It really is so simple and much quicker than loading the crew up for a grocery run. You can use this service for anything though! Groceries, legos and play dough to keep them occupied while the cookies bake and even the essentials like diapers, tissues, makeup, etc. As a busy mom I’m all about simplifying as much as I can and Walmart+ has truly been so helpful!
fast facts:
+ free unlimited delivery with $35 minimum (restrictions apply)
+ member prices on fuel so you’re able to save 5 cents per gallon at Walmart and Murphy fuel stations!
+ mobile scan and go for contactless in-store shopping
+ just $12.95 per month or $98 per year
Olivia loved picking out the themed Halloween cookie cutters and we had festive sprinkles and orange icing in little bowls for easy decorating. I love the idea of packing them up in fun treat bags and dropping surprise treats off at friends and neighbors homes! Below is my go-to sugar cookie recipe that never fails!
Walmart+ will be incredibly helpful to have this holiday season for quick and easy (or last minute!) gift shopping, convenient grocery delivery and holiday decorating favorites like lights and home decor all at the same everyday low prices you love!
sugar cookie recipe:
via design eat repeat
ingredients:
3/4 C unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 C sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 C all-purpose flour
directions:
Heat oven to 350F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. In a large mixing bowl combine butter and sugar until well combined. While mixer is still running, add in the egg, vanilla and almond extract. Once combined, add in the flour (1/2 cup at a time), baking powder and salt. Mix well.
Lay out a piece of parchment paper lightly dusted with flour. Place the dough on the parchment paper and knead until it’s a a large ball. Roll out to 1/2″ thickness and use cookie cutters.
Bake for 8-10 minutes and remove from oven before there are any brown on the edges. Remove from the oven and keep them on the pan for 10-15 minutes. Let cool completely before icing.
