It’s approaching two years that we’ve been in our home and I can hardly believe it. Didn’t we just move in yesterday? We tackled some of the major projects prior to moving in — re-finishing the floors, painting everything, replacing interior doors & hardware, amongst other projects. It’s easy to scroll Instagram and feel like everyone’s home is move in ready and perfectly decorated, but over here each space will come in their own time. Which I actually love and don’t want to rush.
Our living room came with all the quirks of a 1970’s home that’s been partially renovated by previous owners. It’s a very long space that has a t.v. on one end and a fireplace in the middle, so we had to brainstorm seating for both spaces that worked in conjunction with each other. Coley Home’s ‘biggie swivel‘ is perfect in the space. I love that someone sitting in the chair can be a part of the conversation on the couch, or spin to face the t.v. for movie nights. To bring added warmth and texture to the space I upholstered the chair in ‘luxe velvet, olive’ with a contrasting welt in ‘Belgian linen, oatmeal’.
For textiles in the space we added a pair of drapes in Lee Sofa’s ‘Inisfree, color ‘inlet’ to the one set of windows and made into a roman shade by the steps. They really transform the space and gave us so many colors to pull from for the rest of the space. I love this pattern!
Sectional pillows are a combination of patterns by Pepper Home. The ordering process couldn’t have been easier. You select your fabric, design the trims, confirm size and your made to order pillows ship in days. Genius! Ours are 3 of the 22×22 flour pillows with sage fringe, two of the 20×20 ‘Emma sky with moss velvet piping‘ and one of the petite lumbar pillows in thatcher midnight with sky piping.
The anchor of the space is the beautiful ‘Corden in natural‘ rug by Annie Selke. We had to order a custom size since it was such a unique space, but I can’t imagine anything else fitting better. We’ve had two of these rugs by the brand & they’re perfect for high traffic spaces, while still being comfortable to walk/sit on. I highly recommend getting their built in rug pad on the back — it’s worth it!
