New Orleans Print

… New Orleans!
Next month B and I are taking advantage of a rare vacation he has and heading to Louisiana! My previous time spent in New Orleans consists of one night before our senior year spring break cruise. Needless to say we spent that evening on Bourbon Street. This time around, I’m looking for a somewhat different experience. It seems like countless of y’all have been to the city, so I’d love any and all of your favorite things to eat, see, do etc.

We’re staying in a cute boutique hotel that we’ll be able to walk most everywhere. B loves the history side of things, while I can’t wait to hit up Cafe Du Monde and see the gorgeous old homes. We would love to hear y’alls favorite spots that we need to visit!

xx

We were just there this summer for a wedding. Definitely go have a drink at the rotating bar at Hotel Monetelone just for fun. The beignets at the restaurant there are to die for!! We had the yummiest breakfast there.

NOLA is my favorite city! Go to Pat O’s piano bar and then skip the rest of bourbon street and go to Frenchman instead (especially if you like live music!)

Yay! We were just in New Orleans last month and had the best time 🙂 Some of the highlights were the live jazz at Musical Legends Park, touring the Lafayette Cemetery and dinner at Irene’s (need a reservation)!

One of my favorite things that we did in New Orleans was a drinking tour. Think more the history of drinking than Bourbon Street binge drinking (The tour actually does not even go down Bourbon Street) We did the Drink and Learn with Elizabeth Pearce and honestly loved it. You walk around New Orleans, learning all about prohibition, drinking in the city, and where traditions were born, while sipping on traditional cocktails from different time periods in that area. She was full of information and made everything so engaging. We actually went back the next day to a bunch of the places she talked about to look deeper into them. Definitely worth checking out!

You MUST check out Jacque-Imos. You have to make reservations days before hand, but it is hands-down the best food I have ever eaten. Get the smothered chicken, with cornbread and sweet tea. Also Acme Oyster house for breakfast (get biscuits and gravy). And Johnnys for a shrimp Po-Boy! Nola’s food is to-die for and I promise you wont regret these gems. My dad and I always make trips to them when we are down there.

Dinner at Irenes is a MUST-DO! Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time but seriously it’s one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten!

AHHH!! Definitely one of my favorite cities for sure!! I’ve been quite a few times and all were different experiences. I just love the feeling you get when walking around the French Quarter – all of the beautiful architecture, the sense of so much history all around you, and there always is a street band or musician playing music. This will be a great time of year to go – not as miserably hot as in the heat of summer. I agree that if you could get reservations at Irene’s Cuisine it’s so delicious. The atmosphere is great too!! If you want to email be back I have a whole list of things to do and places to eat I’ve put together for friends/family before that I can forward to you. You are going to have an amazing time no matter what!
