Turq&Teale

In my early teens I had a terrible experience getting a facial and left with a bright red face and in pain. Ever since then I’ve been really cautious about finding the right esthetician and type of facial for my skin. Last week I was lucky enough to stop by Aviary Beauty and meet with Amy for a Intraceuticals Oxygen Infused Treatment.

To begin with, Amy was so welcoming and made me feel right at ease. Unlike getting a massage, facials can still make me nervous that I’m going to leave with another red face. She talked me through the products I was using and which ones would benefit my combination skin most, which was so helpful! The Intraceutical facial was unlike any I’ve ever experienced. The treatment uses pressurized oxygen to hydrate your skin and restore your natural glow. It has a huge following from celebs like Jessica Biel, Kim Kardashian and Channing Tatum to name a few.

Amy first did the right side of my face and showed me the difference in appearance from the treated side compared to the untreated left side. Apparently my skin was dehydrated (despite drinking lots of water and using moisturizers) and the oxygen treatment made my skin feel so much better. Think of adding a big gulp of water straight to your face. My skin felt refreshed, hydrated and I’m happy to report there was no redness. I easily went without makeup after this treatment since it leaves your skin looking and feeling amazing. While it’s not something I could do monthly, before big events this would be the perfect treat!

Are any of y’all fans of facials or have a go-to spot?

xx

I’ve always stayed away from facials for fear I’ll break out after and be a red mess. Glad to hear this one was awesome! Wonder of they have a salon here in Charleston that does them? I’d love to try it out!

This facial sounds amazing! I love getting them, but I’m always a bit weary too.

I have the worst time with facials! Most end up making my skin red and blotchy and feel tight. This facial sounds amazing though, I’m glad you had a good experience!

Facials make me nervous too, but the oxygen treatment sounds really fabulous and non-invasive. I might have to give Aviary a try next time I’m in Atlanta!

I’ve never had a facial for the same reason that you were previously scared of them. I’m still pretty nervous about them but your experience sounds amazing!

Whenever I get a facial, my skin is angry for about a week afterwards. Eek.

I have a fantastic person here in Columbia, SC who does the most amazing work on my face. If you or your readers are ever in the area, check out Stacey Overstreet at StaceyOStudio.com. Stacey is so welcoming and upfront about all treatments and carries and uses Epicuren Discovery products just like the spa at Grove Park Inn!

I am counting down the days until my next facial with her on March 22!
