Happy October 1st from the Midwest!

This weekend we lucked out with gorgeous fall weather in St. Louis. B and I ventured down to the Taste of St. Louis event that was going on downtown and sampled some fabulous food and beverages. The rest of the day was spent cheering on various sports teams with friends and a relaxing night in.
It was also a great weekend for GA- a Bulldawg, Falcon and Braves win!
I’m embarrassed to admit that this past weekend was the first time I’d actually cleaned my makeup brushes. How could I go this long with letting my brushes collect dirt and then using it again on my face daily? Yikes

Ten minutes and a few steps later and my brushes were refreshed and ready to go.
 Step 1:
On a small bowl or plate combine equal parts olive oil and dishwashing soap. I started with 1 tsp of each and ended up re-making the cleanser a few times to finish all my brushes. The soap will help get rid of bacteria and dirt while the olive oil will condition the brush.
Step 2:
Swirl your brush in the olive oil/dishsoap mixture for a few seconds. The dirt will start coming off as you swirl. Then, run the brush under warm water until the water runs clear and no more dirt comes off.
Step 3:
Gently reshape your brushes and lay them flat to dry.
The result is beautifully sparkling new tools!
Here’s to a great week ahead friends!
xx

I actually had cleaning my brushes on my to-do this yesterday but it just didn’t happen. I’ve never heard of using olive oil. Let me know how they feel after they dry!

I know exactly what you mean. Cleaning brushes seems like SUCH a pain until you really think about how gross it is that you don’t… Of course, that rarely stops me from going months on end. It’s bad. Glad to hear you and the boy are having fun!

Glad you enjoyed Taste of St. Louis!
I need to wash my brushes too. I only do it about two times a year. Yikes!

Thanks for the great tips! I never really gave washing my brushes much thought either
